Peter Lamont is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh and a former professional magician. He has been a consultant and contributor to many television and radio programmes, and has spoken at book festivals, science festivals and other academic and public events in several countries. His 2020 academic article on the history of ‘critical thinking’ in History of Psychology is already the most downloaded article in the 24-year history of the journal. He is the author of various academic books, and three previous books for the general reader.
